Proof that I was here

The most important photograph on my phone is not beautiful. It is a badly framed picture of a table after everyone stood up.

There are empty glasses, folded napkins, and one abandoned jacket. Nothing about it says why the night mattered. But I remember the conversation the second I see it.

I used to photograph only things that looked worth showing. Lately I have been documenting what feels worth keeping: grocery lists, bus windows, friends looking away, the light in a room before I leave it.

An ordinary photograph is a receipt from a life you might otherwise forget you bought.

I am not trying to make everything permanent. I just want small pieces of evidence. I was here. I noticed. This happened before the room changed again.
